Evolution of Games

Just a quick post.... a little video I found today on the evolution of video games. Pretty cool. Nice to see the old Star Was games for the SNES.

Sleepy Sunday

Check this out, Sister Rosetta Tharpe rockin' out on a gospel song. I'm an atheist, but even I have to appreciate this inspired level of musicianship.

Lets see.... lots to talk about but I don't want to go on forever with this stuff, because I really need a nappy-poo, so I'll just blurt it all out as quickly as possible.

I found this story amusing for some reason. Apparently, Ward Connerly, the main backer of the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative (which sounds fantastic 'til you realize its a push to end most of affirmative action in the state) is accepting support for his initiative from..... the KKK. 'nuff said. To find out more about the story, check out ThinkProgress.com or Detroit News.

Yeah. So not much going on here. The party last night was great fun. Lots of good food as was promised and plenty of fake guitar playing. I look forward to the next Guitar Hero party which will have a special honored guest, Guitar Hero 2!

Well I'm off to find a Worth1000.com contest to enter, or I'll Stumble around for videos and take a nap. Its Sunday, and I cant think of anything better to do than relax.

Comedy Gods, Gobbledy Gook, and Guitars

It has come to my attention that a lot of people that I know have no idea who Mitch Hedberg was. Basically, he was a brilliant comedian in the style of..... well..... Mitch Hedberg. I've watched a lot of comedians and haven't come across anyone like him before or since. I originally got turned on to him via his Comedy Central special and the embed below is a YouTube video of the first 5 minutes of this show. If you like it and would like to see the rest, its currently on YouTube in its entirety, or I have a copy on VHS. Click below for some amazingly original and funny comedy, the likes of which will be missed.

Now onto more serious matters? I've got a lot of political shit on my mind right now, as Saturday is usually my biggest day for blog and socia-news site reading and video clip viewing. If you haven't been paying attention to the news, there are some interesting stories going around. Try checking out news relating to hacking Diebold voting machines. YouTube has some clips of a documentary from HBO on how easy it would be to manipulate the machines. Now I don't know what implications this will have on Tuesday, but I do know that its a bit frightening to think that the results could be hacked by anyone with coding knowledge. For now I'm going to ignore the other big political news stories circulating such as the "Kerry Joke" and the "Rumsfeld Lie" which is just a lot of mud slinging before the election to sway voters opinions with soundbytes.

One thing I did want to point out, is that the story about the Military Times calling for the resignation of Rumsfeld is not a plea from the actual military, but an editorial presented by an American corporation. At first I thought the ACTUAL military was calling for his resignation, before I really dugg deep to find out about who the Military Times is. Just goes to show you need to not only inform yourself on the issues, but you need to more importantly inform yourself on your sources of information.

On a whole different front, I had some people over to the house last night with no planned agenda other than beer drinking. What actually occurred was we each had one beer then spent the night playing fake guitar and then were treated to some Appalachian folk songs on the real guitar. Pretty fun and much more stimulating than a night of nothing but suds and snacks.

Tonight, however, I'm off to a bonafide Guitar Hero party complete with a homemade Italian repast. I don't understand the connection between Marinara and Megadeth's music anymore than you do, but I'm glad they're both at the party just the same.

Alright..... I gotta go strap on my combat boots and my plastic guitar and go rock out my friend's living room. You call it lame and juvenile, I call it a good time with good people enjoying good beer, good food and a brilliant video game.

good grief :P

Out of Obligation Only...

Not feeling very well tonight.... so I'm going to make this quick.

Tonight's link is: Jose Feliciano playing Flight of the Bumble Bee

Not a terribly awesome link I know... but pretty impressive if you're into guitar and/or classical music.

Soooo.... its come to my attention that some people don't seem to appreciate my blog. The only thing I have to say to these people is that perhaps this bog wasn't written for you then. If you're not involved in the visual arts, are not a liberal, or you see me every day of the work week, then you won't get anything out of this. Sorry.

That is all... time to attempt to choke down some dinner then relax this crappy feeling away with a movie.
